Todaiji is Nara's biggest attraction. This is a Buddhist temple, a listed UNESCO World Heritage site.

Todaiji meaning the Eastern Great Temple.The main gate is Nandaimon dating from 1199.. Daibutsu-den is the hall of the Great Buddha.This hall is the largest wooden building in the world. And this Great Buddha is world's largest bronze figure, 16.2 meters (53.1ft), compared with the 11.4 meters (37.4ft) of the great Buddha in Kamakura.


Sika deer regarded as messengers of the gods in the Shinto religion, roam the grounds freely.
