Kyoto was not the first city the Japanese built under the traditional model of China. Nara was the first city under the Chinese influence.

The old, world-famous temples and shrines of the province of Yamato have handed down to us their precious history. In 784 the capital was transferred to the southwest of present-day Kyoto and Nara's tide began to recede. During the centuries of neglect after 784, the places of Nara disappeared, but the temples and shrines on the northeasten edge of the city survived.

In national park(Nara-koen),you can see tame deer. The deer sacred to the shrine of Kasuga taisha, are its symbol. And famous ancient temples and shrines of Nara, reflect the everlasting history of Japan. Seven shrines and places in the city of Nara listed UNESCO World Heritage as "Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara".
